Ultra modern and yet somehow primitive, this necklace is features a type of jasper known as “Picasso” for its bold, “cubist” patterns. The central pendant is predominantly a deep rich red, and the other beads feature black, yellows, and blue greys. Gold vermeil spacers set off the warm colors of the stone.
The central pendant is over 1.75 inches in diameter and hangs from a gold-filled bail. This necklace is about 19 inches in length, including the clasp. This necklace is strung on beading wire rather than knotted because of the large holes in the vermeil beads.
Disclosure: Please note that the display mannequin in the photo is about half-human scale; the necklace has been draped around the back of the mannequin to simulate how the necklace would hang. Please refer to the other photos for a picture of the entire necklace and an indication of scale. The beads in the necklace are gold vermeil (heavy gold plate over sterling silver), but the bail is gold filled, which means that there is base metal under a relatively thick layer of gold. Like all of my jewelry, this necklace is not intended for use by persons under 13.
